Blockchain Lures (BCL) is an exciting new project from Japan that aims to change the way we think about bass fishing. It combines the world of fishing with Web3 technology. Launched in October 2023, BCL is the first decentralized social network focused on black bass, built on the Solana blockchain. So far, it has issued over 2,000 NFTs and is being recognized as the first ‘Fish to Earn’ initiative.

BCL uniquely pairs physical fishing lures with NFT technology. It uses blockchain to track fishing achievements in a way that’s never been done before. The platform sells physical items like lures and apparel alongside NFTs, connecting real-life fishing activities to data in the app. This approach truly embodies the idea of Real World Assets (RWA).

To grow its user base, BCL is enhancing the experience with new gaming features. The upcoming BCL game will allow users to change their in-game status based on real-world fishing results. Users will even be able to trade or lend their lures. Plus, BCL plans to add activity scores beyond just fishing results, creating a unique ecosystem that attracts both Web3 users and existing fishing enthusiasts.

BCL aims to broaden Solana’s adoption by attracting more users and driving meaningful social movements.

On the first anniversary of the app, BCL announced two new services.

The first is the launch of the Black Bass Token (BBT), a meme coin inspired by the black bass. This vibrant and fun coin is designed to appeal to anglers worldwide. The introduction of BBT is meant to enhance the BCL ecosystem and promote the idea of “Fish to Earn.” Unlike most meme coins that focus on dogs and cats, BBT is a pioneer in fish-themed meme coins.

You can earn BBT through various activities in the BCL app, like sharing fishing results and participating in community events. Right now, you need to register for the BCL app to earn BBT. It’s a web service, and a native app is set to launch in December. You can easily register using your Google account.

The tokens you earn can be exchanged for coupons in BCL’s e-commerce platform through an upcoming exchange. In the future, you might even use these tokens at gas stations, local restaurants, and more. Beyond the BCL games, these tokens could also be used in the wider Solana ecosystem, including decentralized exchanges and DeFi services.

BCL is also considering an Initial Exchange Offering (IEO). In the past, some token sales faced issues due to excessive distribution to early investors, leading to price spikes and drops. BBT aims to avoid this by limiting promotional airdrops and focusing on valuable incentives for anglers and community members, creating a sustainable ecosystem.

The second initiative is the launch of the Solana Meme Map, a media platform dedicated to introducing various Solana meme coins. Meme coins have become a significant part of the crypto conversation, evolving into a cultural phenomenon. Recognizing this trend, the Solana Meme Map aims to create a comprehensive overview of meme coins issued on Solana, something that hasn’t been done before. This platform will serve as a trusted resource, much like the Michelin Guide, establishing authority within the ecosystem.

Every six months, BCL will feature selected meme coins, offering insights into the ecosystem and trends in the ever-diversifying world of meme coins. The map will highlight unique meme coins from Solana, showcasing themes like animals, dinosaurs, and mythical creatures, creating a fascinating and chaotic representation.

The media platform is expected to launch by the end of the year, focusing on creating an engaging, zoo-like atmosphere. This approach will help users quickly understand promising Solana meme coins and access the latest information.

Only coins that meet specific criteria, such as a minimum trading volume, will be featured. This allows users to discover trending and promising meme coins without any extra costs.

On October 27, 2024, to celebrate the first anniversary of the BCL app, the world’s first bass fishing tournament offering cryptocurrency SOL as a prize was held at Lake Sagami, a popular bass fishing spot in Japan. This event was organized by Solana Superteam Japan and CoinTelegraph Japan to support the development of the Solana ecosystem in Japan, with SBI Group’s cryptocurrency exchange BITPOINT sponsoring the prizes.

As part of its goal to connect bass anglers worldwide, BCL added an English translation feature to the app on November 8. This means anglers can compete with each other globally as long as they use the same lure, no matter where they are.

The app also serves as a platform for sharing achievements and discussing fishing with fellow enthusiasts.

BCL, along with its Japanese users, looks forward to welcoming anglers from around the world and supporters who will join in realizing the vision that the BCL project strives to achieve.
