A dad in China recently got himself into a bit of trouble online. He was caught by his wife using artificial intelligence (AI) to help their son with homework.
It all happened when she walked into their son’s bedroom and found him playing on his phone. Meanwhile, their primary school-aged son was using AI to tackle his homework problems.
The mother, known by her last name Jiang, discovered this on December 29. When she entered the room, the dad panicked. He didn’t expect her to find out.
The boy told his mom that his dad had suggested he use AI whenever he got stuck. He used the Kimi AI chatbot, created by a Beijing company called Moonshot AI. This chatbot, launched in October 2023, can handle up to two million Chinese characters in one go.
The son sent a picture of a math question from his workbook. The AI chatbot responded with a detailed analysis and the answer.
