Heather 'Razzlekhan' Morgan just got sentenced to 18 months in prison for her part in the Bitfinex heist. This news comes from a recent report by Bloomberg. The sentencing took place in a Washington D.C. court on Monday. Her husband, Ilya “Dutch” Lichtenstein, faced a heftier sentence of five years just last week.

Morgan, who raps under the name "Razzlekhan," received her 18-month sentence due to her involvement in the hack of the Bitfinex crypto exchange. Lichtenstein received five years for his role in the scheme. He was charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Prosecutors noted that Morgan played a smaller role in the money laundering operation, which is why they recommended a shorter sentence than Lichtenstein’s. Importantly, Morgan wasn’t involved in the hack itself, according to Bloomberg.

Lichtenstein and Morgan were accused of laundering bitcoin worth around $4 billion at the time it was seized, linked to the 2016 Bitfinex hack. Before her arrest, Morgan wrote columns offering advice on how to protect businesses from cybercriminals. She even discussed social engineering tactics—essentially how to manipulate people into giving up sensitive information.

The government claimed that Lichtenstein and Morgan conspired to launder 119,754 bitcoin in August 2016, valued at nearly $71 million back then. Both of them pleaded guilty in August 2023.
