Marinade, a Solana staking protocol, has rolled out some important proposals. These proposals aim to tackle issues with malicious validators and to make Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) more accessible.

The team at Marinade is inviting all DAO members and community stakeholders to join in on discussions. Your input is valuable in shaping the future of this ecosystem.

So, what is MEV? It’s the value that comes from how blockchain transactions are sequenced. While MEV can help optimize liquidity and enhance price discovery, it also has its downsides. If not managed, it can lead to problems like front-running and centralized control, which go against the spirit of decentralization.

To strengthen the Solana network, Marinade has proposed several key measures. One of them is to create a Public Committee for Delegation Oversight. This committee would keep an eye on validators and ensure they are held accountable. If a validator acts maliciously, the plan is to identify and blacklist them based on solid evidence. Moreover, Marinade suggests slashing the PSR bond of up to three harmful validators to help recover costs when their stakes are moved to more reliable validators. This is meant to set a strong example and discourage future bad behavior.

Another proposal is to reopen the public mempool. This would help democratize access to MEV. By doing this, Marinade aims to prevent the centralization of deal flow in private mempools. The goal is to create a more equitable distribution of MEV opportunities across the network, reducing power imbalances.

Additionally, Marinade plans to allocate funds from the MNDE DAO treasury to start a dedicated research initiative. This initiative will focus on analyzing MEV trends, risks, and opportunities within the Solana network. It will explore ways to mitigate harmful MEV at both the protocol and application levels. The idea is to develop tools that improve transparency and inclusivity in MEV activities. These findings will guide future governance decisions and help enhance the ecosystem.

Through these efforts, Marinade aims to foster a more inclusive, transparent, and balanced blockchain environment. Your participation and insights can make a real difference.
