Wang Huiwen, co-founder of Meituan, is back to lead the company's push into artificial intelligence. After selling his AI start-up, Light Year, to Meituan last year, he's ready to take on this new challenge.

At 46, Wang will head a new team called GN06. This team will focus on exploring fresh opportunities in AI. It's important to note that GN06 operates independently from other Meituan units. They have their own approach, separate from the existing in-house AI model team. One standout product from GN06 is an AI companion named Wow.

Meituan hasn't commented on Wang's return yet. However, the news has positively impacted the company's stock. Shares jumped 5.6%, closing at HK$199.9, which is about US$25.7.

Wang has a history with AI. Back in February of last year, he started Light Year just after OpenAI launched ChatGPT. This event sparked a global race in AI development. Wang invested a personal $50 million into his new venture.

With Wang back in the game, Meituan is poised for exciting developments in AI. Stay tuned for what comes next!
