Nigeria's anti-corruption agency has officially dropped the money laundering charges against Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive. He has been in detention in Nigeria since February.

This announcement came on October 23, 2024, during a court session. The lawyer for Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission shared the news. Justice Emeka Nwite accepted the withdrawal of the charges.

This decision marks the end of an eight-month ordeal for Gambaryan. He’s a 40-year-old former US federal agent and currently leads Binance’s financial crime compliance team. Recently, he has faced some serious health issues, including a back injury and malaria. In fact, he was too unwell to attend a recent court hearing.

Since Gambaryan and his colleague, Nadeem Anjarwalla, were arrested in Abuja back in February, both Binance and Gambaryan's family have been urging the authorities to drop what they called a fabricated case against him.

In June, two members of the US House of Representatives expressed their concern about the situation.
