Sophon is an entertainment-focused blockchain platform. They recently announced plans for their upcoming mainnet launch, which is expected to happen before December 2024.

Along with the mainnet, they will introduce the SOPH token. However, it won't be available to the public right away.

In the beginning, Sophon aims to offer a gas-free experience. This means users can explore and interact with the platform without worrying about transaction fees. It’s a great way to showcase what the platform can do.

Interestingly, Sophon won’t hold a Token Generation Event (TGE) for the initial release of the SOPH token. They did mention that a TGE might happen later on.

For those who participated in the Sophon Node sale, there’s good news. Soon, they will be able to claim their Guardian membership non-fungible token (NFT), as long as they meet the Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.

This week, Sophon plans to reveal the complete list of partners involved in the mainnet launch. In the gaming sector, they have already teamed up with Beam. Aethir is set to take a leading role in distributed computing, while Azuro will be their platform for prediction markets. They also plan to share more partnerships in areas like decentralized finance (DeFi), casino and sports betting, social and mobile platforms, ticketing solutions, adtech innovations, and more.

When the mainnet launches, all key infrastructure for developers will be ready. This includes bridges, indexing services for oracles, explorers, and foundational DeFi tools. They have plans for further expansions as well.

Sophon is also working with other teams to improve ZKsync tooling. This includes integrating paymaster features into Foundry and developing new software development kits (SDKs) and application programming interfaces (APIs) to make blockchain development easier.

So, what exactly is Sophon? It’s built on the zero-knowledge Stack, which supports a wide range of high-throughput applications, like AI and gaming. This blockchain is designed for smooth interactions between developers and users, with support from zkSync, Beam, Zentry, and Aethir.

Back in March, Sophon raised $10 million in funding from Paper Ventures and Maven11. They also received contributions from Spartan, SevenX, OKX Ventures, and Huobi Ventures to advance their decentralized infrastructure.
