Crypto apps are making a big splash in the finance section of Apple’s US App Store. Recent trends show that they are climbing to the top, thanks to a renewed interest in digital asset trading platforms. This surge follows President Donald Trump’s launch of a new memecoin.

As of January 22, the top three apps in the finance category were all related to cryptocurrency. These included popular platforms like Crypto.com, Moonshot, and Coinbase.

Other noteworthy crypto apps, such as Coinbase Wallet, Robinhood, Binance.US, DEX Screener, and Kraken, also found their way into the top 30 free apps in this category.

The rise in app rankings aligns closely with the launch of Trump’s Official Trump (TRUMP) memecoin on January 18. Just hours after its debut, the token reached a market cap exceeding $9 billion. It even peaked at around $14.5 billion before pulling back. Currently, its market cap stands at about $8.3 billion.

Following this, First Lady Melania Trump introduced her own self-titled memecoin. It quickly caught the attention of investors and hit a valuation of about $6 billion within just two hours of launch.

On January 1, the Moonshot app, which allows users to buy memecoins using Apple Pay, was ranked 309th in the finance category. However, just one day after Trump’s memecoin launch, it shot to the top spot. This shift shows a growing interest in memecoins across the US.

Similarly, DEX Screener, a tool for tracking token prices, saw a jump in popularity. It moved from 102nd place on January 1 to 21st by January 20.

Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, noted that the TRUMP memecoin could serve as a gauge of public sentiment towards the Trump administration. He explained that its rapid rise in value is due to its novelty and the excitement among supporters eager to engage with Trump’s brand.

Siu also mentioned that the TRUMP memecoin could have philanthropic potential. He stated, “Philanthropy could transform a memecoin into a movement with meaningful real-world impact.” This could foster goodwill and set a new standard for political engagement in the digital age.
